WARNING: THE FOLLOWING BLOG ENTRY SHARES A RESEMBLENCE TO HOW XIAXUE WRITES. WHICH AIN'T GOOD.

I have NEIGHBOURS FROM HELL.

Some new neighbours just moved in beside me. For those of you who regularly visit my humble abode for table swimming, you'd probably realise the house beside mine (no.45 Jalan Simpang Bedok) was vacant. NOT ANYMORE. Not since my previous neighbours, who were a very nice bunch except for their annoying dog named DEXTER who barked at me and only me for the past 10 years. (And so, don't keep asking me why I hate dogs)

Now these new bunch of people are much worse. When my aunt's car was parked outside my house when she came for dinner, they HORNED AND HORNED AND HORNED.

You know, long time ago, there was a great invention called the DOORBELL.

And despite failing my basic theory test (yes, start laughing), I remembered something along the lines that horning for no apparent reason is an offence.

That's not all. My maid claimed their boss told their maid NOT TO TALK TO MY MAID.

1. My maid talks to every maid in Jalan Simpang Bedok, it's literally a walking friendster.com
2. Every other maid talks to every other maid in Jalan Simpang Bedok

So if she wants to be an outcast, then let it will be !

That's neighbours from hell part 1. There's part 2!

Part 2 is regarding my neighbours from across my fence, which is not Jalan Simpang Bedok but another estate. I think it's Jalan Pari Burong.

My maid claimed they were unhappy with the noise when my brother was playing football in my garden.

Firstly, playing football doesn't really make much noise and even so, it's 5pm so it's perfectly normal. Secondly, THEIR DOG MAKES SO MUCH NOISE AT NIGHT THAT I THREATENED TO CALL THE POLICE ONCE.

I don't know how to describe their dog. To say it is senile and retarded is just an understatement. It barks and barks and barks, even at 12 midnight. That's why I don't have any cure for my insomnia. And that's why I have every right to call the police, because it is my right to have a quiet and peaceful night at 12am!

Why is the dog barking at 12 midnight anyway?!

ARGH. Jane - if you're reading this, be glad you aren't here to experience the neighbours from hell. I sure hope Perth isn't like that.

I came home, opened my email, and decided to write to my aunt in US about the recent university shooting in Virginia.

I guess she beat me to it!

I hope you guys read the article on the shooting at Virginia Tech. It is one of the top 100 colleges in US. We have been there a couple of times when Uncle Jerry has work there. It's basically a small college town; meaning the businesses there depend largely on the student population. So, during the Summer holidays, it's really a dead town.

Find some articles to read about it online. Why should it interest you? Cos you might be going to college here, you are all young people who should be taking an interest in the lives of other people.

Turns out the shooter was a chinese guy on a student visa (from China) for about a year. The first person who was killed was a chinese girl in the dorm...could be his girlfriend but so far no one is saying anything about that. Another student must have seen him and got shot too. Then 2 hours later, he went on a shooting rampage when classes were going on.

The scary part is how easy it is to get a gun here. This is the second Amendment in the Constitution (the law): "The right to bear arms"

I can walk into a shop & buy a gun, any type of weapon (yes, even machine guns). I would have to register my name. In some states, may have to wait a few months, but in Virginia, can get it immediately.

That to me is one of the reasons why there are more shootings here than anywhere else in the world: in schools, in work places...get angry with someone, just shoot him! And yes, we have a gun at home...it's a rifle.

Wendy

I think it's just tragic. I can close my eyes and picture what happened...a guy walking into the classroom and turning it into a battlefield. In a world abound with terrorism and political unrest, this is the last thing we need.

Firstly, congratulations to SHSS C and B div volleyball. National champions 2007!

And the B finals went into 5 sets! How tense was that! Brings back those memories. Yes, 14 or 15 years on, we are still the best in Singapore. WE ARE ELITE!

Classes started once again, 3 gruelling days of advertising lectures. Watching all the Australian and American advertisements really leave me in stitches! I think Singapore should be more liberal in advertising. My classmates decided to introduce ourselves to the lecturer by doing this:

Happy Easter to everyone !

It has been a very good long weekend away from work. Another 3 more weeks to Labour Day public holiday!

Caught a couple of movies - The Number 23 and Freedom Writers

The Number 23 is just creepy. Hands up, those of you who watched the movie and came out of the theatre calculating your birthday, IC number, signficant dates..anything that may add up to 23. I did! Very unconsciously. I guess it's just so puzzling that this number has so much significance in many historical events. You wonder whether it's just coincidence, and you really can't answer that. I googled it and it was way too creepy for me.

FORTUNATELY, I don't have any association with that number, although it is very very close. Like my birthdate is on the 22nd, and my eye operation last year was on the 24th. So I'm officially immune! Maybe the closest it gets is that '23' is my favourite song off the One Tree Hill soundtrack from Jimmy Eat World but listening to the lyrics, the band probably knew the extraordinary events surrounding the number already.

Freedom Writers was a far better movie for me. It gets 5 out of 5 without a doubt. An inspiring movie about racism in an American school between Asians, blacks and white, and how a class eventually overcame all the differences in skin colour to become a unified one. A must-watch show if you think Mr Bean is lame.

(Nah, in fact, I enjoyed Mr Bean!)

Lastly, waited months to attend the long-awaited Jolin Tsai concert last night. I wouldn't say I was thoroughly impressed, but Jolin is a great performer and she still rocks! All those sleak dance moves really gets everyone on.

Ok now back to more research about... 23 !

Clarence's 21st!

Was scheduled to attend 3 birthday parties but only made it for 1 instead!

Anyway it's been a very sickening week because Cathay Pacific is having a major restructuring at the airport. I'm sure many people will understand the term 'major restructuring', so I don't need to go deeper. Even though I'm no longer working there, CX has always been a part of me. It was the first placement that I went for when the internship places were out. It was my first option after graduating and before enlistment. It's such a joy working for them. Every day is a learning journey and an experience that no other place can bring. It was so hard to leave them in May last year. But the company has not forgotten me ever since and have always made sure I get the best seats when I travelled CX, and get good rates for my tickets. That goes all the way to even the reservations staff in the town office, how they always gave my family and I priority to overbooked flights in the past.

Things have just downhill after the major restructuring. Everybody is feeling the pain at the airport. Just talking to them online makes me feel so much pain and heartache. Things have been so bad that the absenteesm rate is so high now. People are still crying every single day.

I really really wish I had the power to do something, you know, like watching the hit series 'Heroes'. Everybody has different superpowers to save the world. Maybe it's good to be like Hiro Nakamura, who has the power to bend time, and we can rewind back time and see what went wrong.

But I can't, and that sucks because I hate to see people so utterly depressed.
