CNY 2009
HAPPY NIU YEAR
ZOUK

Photobucket

Ok, I seriously didn't plan to go yesterday. Really. I was already in bed at 10.30, planning to wake up at 4am to watch soccer on telly. But it's a very long story lah.

Ok I thought we already planned to wear RED on CNY, and look at what everyone wore instead.

WHAT'S WITH WHITE??

Also, yesterday I got a first taste of life in customer service. Maybe I do look destined to spend the rest of my life in this line. So yeah, ok I'm wearing a red shirt and black pants, and this dude came up to me with 2 drink coupons and asked me 'Hey, can you get me 2 beers. Thanks!'

RIGHTTTTT PEOPLE I LOOK LIKE A ZOUK WAITER NOW.

My friend said it's because I wore red, bo pian what. DUDE. ZOUK STAFF DRESSED IN ORANGE LAH DEI.

That's not all!

As I was leaving around 3am, 2 trans came up to me. YES TRANNY ATTACK IN ZOUK. One of them came close to me and said 'Sirrr, can u git meee a tah see plissss. tah see tah see!'

RIGHTTTTTT PEOPLE NOW I ALSO LOOK LIKE A TAXI, NONO, TAH SEEEEE DRIVER.

CNY this year was like any other year, but I definitely feel happier this year as compared to the previous 3 years. That's mainly because the last 2 years were my NS years and I had the dreaded feeling of going back to camp after the holidays, and 3 years ago I was just discharged from hospital, though I got back in time to celebrate but lots of stuff happened like being humiliated by Sarah at mahjong. Which is perfectly fine because revenge is gonna taste so sweet this Saturday, and no money will be involved as the stakes are now each other's houses and cars.

Yesterday night was a bit of a scare for me. I went to pick Terence up for supper at midnight and after reaching his place, I tried to start the car and it just wouldn't start. The stupid key was stuck in the ignition and I couldn't pull it out. And obviously I'm not the sort who plays around with cars so everything just confused me and so unfortunately that my passenger isn't someone who is very familiar as well, and so I was just stuck there trying to pull the bloody key out. Finally, I applied the midas touch, somehow, and the car was up and running again.

Went to Siglap and took 20 minutes trying to figure out how to parallel park, moving in and out, in and out until some smokers nearby saw my plight, probably laughing at me then one of them proceeded to move his car to another lot so I could just move straight into the front lot. Okay, Singaporeans are quite a nice bunch after all.

I suggest that all car parks have POLES. The same poles they have in the driving centre, so I know when to turn left and right when the sticker touches the pole.

PHOARRRR IT'S WEDNESDAY AGAIN. KILL ME.

This week, being Chinese New Year, will always be an important week in my life because it's my eye's 3rd birthday this January. SWEET! It's a time to once again reflect and really, lesson learnt is never ever take anything for granted. And whoever gave me his eye, don't know if you're gonna be reading this whatsoever, no amount of thank yous and no amount of money can ever express my eternal gratitude.

Yesterday night was back to Flesh Imp to get my hoodie that I wore the other time, and off to Pit Stop Cafe.

Photobucket

Really cool walls with millions of photos!

The games of the day were MALL OF HORRORS and the most brainless game ever, CLOUD 9.

Photobucket

The most retarded game ever and also the most brainless but it's kinda fun!

Thursday was sort of a 'historic' day for me as it was my first time in JURONG POINT. Hahaha.

Woke up feeling so groggy after a whole night of mambo and took the longest train ride of my life to Boon Lay. 45 minute train ride - that's even longer than a flight from Singapore to KL!

Met the NTU/NIE students Amelia and Lisa there for LOVE MATTERS.

Photobucket

So here we go again. Yet another Jack Neo movie, and yet another flop. I will go as far as saying this is his worst movie ever and I would have walked out of the theatre if I were watching it alone. It's plain bad, seriously, and there's no originality in anything! There's one entire scene where he completely reproduced it from the movie Hard Candy and it was even more horrendous when you have local actors and actresses in it!

Please, whatever you do this holiday season, save yourself the trauma and avoid this at all costs.

love truth and honesty-o-meter: -5 / 5

After the movie, proceeded even further from Jurong Point and took a ride into NTU. I heard rumours that sometimes the NTU students can get a Malaysian signal on their mobile phones when they are in school. That's so crazy! So when they say that going to school is like going to Malaysia, there's actually some truth in that!

First up was to NTU's sports hall for the IVP finals between NTU and TP, and being a former student of course I supported my poly but I was very convinced that it's definitely not gonna be a very fair ball game as uni students would have served their NS and thus would have been fitter. As it concluded, TP put up a very good fight to take the lead in the first and second quarter only to be quashed very badly in the last half by the home team. But entertaining match nonetheless!

Next up was to NIE sports hall where my sec sch volleyball team mates were involved in their inter-hall games. Like I can never rationalse why the halls would wanna play against each other. Isn't everyone from the same school? What next? The roomies against each other?

Anyway stayed for one set and surprisingly Marcus managed to spot me amongst the crowd of yellow, and not sure what happened but his hall won very convincingly only to find out that controversy has erupted and the final set would have to be replayed.

SO MUCH DRAMA MAMA!

At 11pm, took the longest train ride back from Boon Lay to Tanah Merah. Wah it's a killer man! Now I can totally understand how NTU students feel!

Friday was a very nostalgic day for me as I took a trip down memory lane.

First up it was back to SHSS for CNY celebrations.

I feel very very old.

They had this HILDIAN SUPERSTAR competition, into the 3rd year already. How come my time don't have? Imagine who would have won? HAHAHAHA.

So apparently I realised not many people have faith in my new career!

Mr Phillip: So what you doing now?
Jerms: Gonna be an air steward.
Mr Phillip: AIR STEWARD?? WAH. LOOK AT YOU. JUST LOOK AT YOU! LOOK AT THE WAY YOU STAND! HOW TO BE AIR STEWARD??
Jerms: Haha Mr Phillip don't be like that lah!
Mr Chiang: Haha yah Mr Phillip, wait till he come back next time after his training, in his uniform! He will look better!
Jerms: Gives that Ponyo look -____-

Ok man I'm so gonna quit my job tomorrow and go to NIE and be a teacher instead!

In the afternoon was lunch with my army unit as the 2 clerks who worked with me were going to ORD. Actually, I realised it hasn't been long since I ORD, considering that some of my colleagues were still asking me if I aready ORD! Had a very good lunch with everyone and my sole intention was actually to chip in and pay for the 2 ORD clerks but my unit was so nice and they gave me a treat as well!

Friday night supper yet again and ths time I drove the CRV for the first time - alone. I'm definitely still getting used to it man.

Met Flannery and Lisa for Changi V nasi lemak and then to Downtown East for BRIDE WARS.

Photobucket

Finally, a great movie to start off the holiday season!

I'm actually a very big fan of Anne Hathaway after a very moving performance in Brokeback Mountain, haven't missed many of her movies since then and this one is yet another wonderful movie! It's not a brainless chic flic, yet it really shows how a real weding should look like and at least there is some sense of reality. Go watch this one instead!

Alright off for last min CNY shopping now!

IT'S WEDNESDAY ALL OVER AGAIN.

Lost in emotion
You telling me things
You really shouldn't know
Oh baby I'm lost in emotion
Am I a fool, at least my friends think so
que sera que sera

I have no idea why Wednesdays always come so quickly like service at a fast food restaurant. Seems like the week always passes so fast from Thursday to Tuesday.

Pre-mambo drinks at ZIRCA! Yeah finally got to experience post-MOS life at Zirca. Have been dying to go there since MOS closed down.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Lucky gals who go there on Wednesdays get free flow of Lychee Martinis!

Photobucket

Freaking nurses bartop dancing. LOL.

Photobucket

Can't believe I saw Jane there. look at her - she can't believe it too!

Photobucket

For those who don't know, Jane lives like 20 steps away from me, yet I don't even see her at all man. I either see her siblings or her dog, which is forever young and never growing old since we moved in when we were Primary 2.

Photobucket

Back to Kim Seng road after that.

Photobucket

I'VE GOT THE POWERRRRRRRR!

Photobucket

Funky Mr Happy!

Photobucket

Photobucket

Seriously, the music is shit at Zouk now. Can you imagine what songs they were playing? 10 little indians, gong xi fa cai and little nyona. So I sat down and took photos of everyone instead of wasting my energy.

I am attempting to drive to Zouk next week! Just that I can't figure out the way from my place. Anyone knows? PIE or ECP?

Yeah went to play soccer with my unit again!

Photobucket

Shit it's like NS all over again. Been hanging out with them so much, and this Friday going for farewell lunch for one of my camp mates.

Shit lah I miss being an NSF. At least back then I can pay the NSF rate but now I am a working adult so no more such rates applicable!

My captain says he wants to take a photo everytime we play, like for what sia haha. Let's hope we can keep this going on!

After soccer, I went to Bedok interchange to grab some supper, and I witnessed a horrible scuffle. At 11pm, one whole group of uncles were quarelling loudly and then suddenly, one of them threw a few beer bottles on the ground. Unconsumed beer bottles. Can you imagine the whole hawker centre was reeking with the smell of beer and I absolutely hated that smell. Then it continued on and on, hokkien expletives all over the place, then some of them started to leave while everyone looked in shock.

Pardon my ignorance but I mean, it's fine if quarrels ensue but they are FREAKING OLD UNCLES and their time is almost up. Seriously, at that age, what's there to quarrel about? Can't you just sit down, grab a few beers for all I care and chat about your very memorable life?

Yeah I watched PONYO for the second time today! Who wants to go for round 3 and 4?

Monday, January 19, 2009

Since I got my license, I haven't really got the opportunity to drive any of my friends around. Which is a little sucky since they have been doing the favour most of the time and maybe it will make late-night suppers more convenient. But I guess I needed a little more time to get used to the gigantic CRV as compared to my instructor's car.

Anyway, the day finally arrived when I got to drive out alone, which is today!

Photobucket

Photobucket

Borrowed my aunt's Mitsubishi I aka the spaceship car for the night!

Photobucket

Photobucket

Look at my horrible parking outside Siglap. Look at the big gap! I don't know why I'm actually posting all these humiliating stuff about me on my blog. Kinda reminds me about my infamous TONG NAN NAN pong at CNY mahjong 3 years ago. It's ok, I will get sweet revenge this year.

Photobucket

Congratulations. The first on board the spaceship driven by Jerms Ponyo Tan.

Photobucket

Off to cheesecake cafe, where there was so little cheesecake left when we reached.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Oreo Strawberry and Oreo. Please don't ask me to do my meter rating shit because I did it with all the cheesecake a few months ago already.

Ok I really really really wanna go for the Jason Mraz concert man, but not as much as, let's say Madonna lah. Cos Jason Mraz can't freaking dance and I have already seen him perform at Singfest. And the sucky thing is that I can't confirm anything from March onwards, so that means missing Lin Jun Jie too, which would have been nice. Whatever it is I'm so not gonna miss this year's Singfest!

I'm sorta being a middleman now, and I don't really have much experience but it's kinda fun eh? As in a friend of mine is interested in another friend's friend and I have to negotiate deals and terms between both parties so that they can exchange information. But being in the heat of things and eventually knowing how both parties are like, I guess I'm entitled to decide whether they are compatible, and my oh my, I seriously don't believe how small Singapore is and how big a word 'coincidence' is.
