There's so much going on in America now. The Presidential Primaries have become such a big racial issue that it's somewhat hilarious, like what we see in the movies. Then of course there's the impending recession, which everyone is going bonkers about. I may not be an economist but as a consumer, I'm definitely enjoying the ride for now. Things are dirt cheap, so much that Bangkok should just close shop. The amount of stuff that I ordered is massive, fortunately my aunt's making a trip there (which is dirt cheap as well) so I save on freight charges (which is dirt cheap as well)

So of course, these 2 events don't bother me as much as, erm, yeah. THE WRITER'S STRIKE.

Ok, I can live without all those glamorous award shows like Golden Globes, Emmys, Grammy, Tammys.....whatever. Just bring back my shows please! Prison Break 3 is just left hanging in mid air lah, I get withdrawal symptoms just seeing a tattoo anywhere! If you need someone to write, I will! Argh. Get Scofield out of Sona prison and ask him to save the world, which reminds me, yeah. HEROES is also just hanging on a thread! Now what? Have they run out of superpowers?

And what about my favourite drama, 24?

THEY CANCELLED THE ENTIRE SEASON!

Zilch. Nil. Kosong. Zero. Not even a single second of Jack Bauer.

Fortunately I still have One Tree Hill and Supernatural which I'm lagging behind but if the strike doesn't end by the time I finish, I will fly to America and punch those writers!

Yesterday was the Lighthouse chalet gathering which Ben Foo asked me to go, since I ended class early I decided to drop by.

This is the one and only reason why I would want an Apple laptop:

Hahaha.

Other than that, I can't use any other functions. Ot at least, I'll probably need a 50-hour tutorial on how to use a Mac.

While on the way home from camp just now, I realized a couple of things. Firstly, I could be home earlier if I had taken an alternative bus on an alternative route. Right. (After which I heard my conscience yelling this out to me: Wonderful lah, jerms. Realizing this with only 5 months left.) Hur hur.

And secondly, I was walking with a slight strain on my left ankle, and I couldn't figure out why. I haven't played soccer in 5 days, and the last session on Saturday night ended injury-free. (Then my conscience tapped me on the shoulder and said: Maybe it's retribution for that horrendous sliding tackle on Alex last Friday! How cruel, he was almost crippled by that lunge!) Erm, nope. Retribution won't occur this way.

Then it hit me! (Unfortunately my conscience couldn't figure this out. Too Bad!)

Must be my futile attempts yesterday during driving lessons. Honestly, learning to park with a manual car is an almost impossible task. I couldn't even perfect one single parking routine in that 90 minutes, and my punishment was 90 minutes on that clutch, without a single opportunity to even pull that handbrake and relax my sore ankles. The up and down movement was clearly too much for me as I banged down pole after pole, desperately trying to master the perfect parking, all in vain.

Not to mention my new shoes from e-mart, which isn't so new anymore because the sole is almost broken!

I remembered at one point, I was stuck in such an immovable position that my dear instructor had to PUSH THE CAR just to get me out of that cul-de-sac. Yeah because one wrong move and I'll be banging down all 4 poles.

At the rate I'm going, I'll never get that license. And by the time I do so, cars will be extinct and humans will all be like Peter Petrelli, having the ability to fly.

BEAUTY WORLD - THE MUSICAL

ESPLANADE THEATRES
17 JANUARY 2008

This musical had been revived for what must be the hundredth time by now, and memories of my last show had long faded into oblivion. Therefore I chanced upon the opportunity to catch this latest installment, and overall I have to admit I wasn't disappointed, lest the fact that I paid for the cheapest ticket and got a very restricted view! But oh well, we can always use our imagination.

Dick Lee impresses throughout in producing this highly energised musical featuring a cast of little well-knowns. The whole Esplanade arena was transformed into an 80s-inspired set up featuring costume sets from the past and even cast members smoking throughout the whole performance. The songs were well-delivered, and I was rather bemused by how the cast broke into a surprise song and dance for almost every single scene that it reminded me of High School Muiscal! Nonetheless, a wonderful show that deserves more recognition than it should already have.

JAY CHOU WORLD TOUR

SINGAPORE INDOOR STADIUM
18 JANUARY 2008

Without a doubt, this was definitely the most anticpated concert of the year, with fans enduring a 3 year wait for the heavenly RnB king to finally hit our shores with another concert.

With so much on his shoulders - movie debuts and 7 albums under his belt - I have to admit my expectations were rather high for this gig, further boosted by reports that every single concert in Taiwan and Hong Kong was sold out prior to yesterday. However, this recent tour certainly pales in comparison to his last one in 2004 and I was left slightly disappointed in the end, though not enough for me to regret forking out $125 for a seat.

Fans no doubt will disagree in unison, cherring and screaming throughout the 2 1/2 hours and breaking into a rapturous applause and at times standing ovation at the end of almost every song. From the first notes on opening song Huang Jin Jia, theme song of the movie Curse Of The Golden Flower, to the last notes of the closing monster hit Shuang Jie Gun, Jay constantly delivered like he always does best, but sadly the whole performance couldn't flow swiftly from one set to the next.

Surprisingly though, I felt he did better with most of the fast tracks, showing off his nifty dance moves and peculiar costumes, I couldn't find much fault in those entertaining segments. Unfortunately, he failed in the ballads section, forgetting lyrics to almost every song and attempts to cover up were futile, at least in the eyes of hardcore fans who would belt out his hits every week at Kbox.

Other highlights of the concert include his traditional piano pieces and a piano duet similar to the one seen in 'Secret'. I particularly enjoyed my favourite piece Fa Ru Xue played on the gu-zhen, as with his 2 remixes of Shuang Jie Gun, one which was remixed as a guitar pop tune with Nan Quan Ma Ma. Not very eventful highlights include his rather insipid performance of Qian Li Zhi Wai - done originally as a duet with the legendary Fei Yu Qing - and also the fact that he particularly left out many tracks from his new album which garnered very little votes.

Celebrating his birthday with him was Nan Quan Ma Ma, who led the crowd with birthday songs and several other numbers of their own. This was a little saving grace for what must have been a slight let-down, but I'm not taking anything away from Jay, who still proves he the leading Taiwanese RnB king and I'm sure this will follow in the years to come.

This weekend marks a major milestone for me - after so many months of procrastination and missing everything on tv, I finally finished Heroes Season 1!

It was an amazing road to the finale, and I was totally gripped to the very end to the point where Peter exploded in space and Hiro travels back in time again. One of the best tv series I've ever watched, and highly recommended to anyone who has got time to kill. Cute cheerleader, spooky mind reader, retarded Japanese guys, kids with powers and so many more - what more can I ask in a show?

Although I have to admit, the ultimate villian would be my favourtie character. Just like myself, Michael Scofield from Prison Break, I felt that Sylar brought a totally whole new dimension to the villians of the world. Despite the fact that he always cuts open up heads and take out their brains, the whole disguise act was just brilliant and his uncanny personality makes him the clear protagonist in this show. 5 stars!

Well so it goes, this was actually supposed to be written in my storybook, but it happened anyway.

To put it simply, my aunt bought a cute little dog from Holland V. Whopping $2000 bucks! For a small dog! Unfortunately, it had to go the cruel way, choking to death after being overfed some food. And so, no happy ending.

It died after just 4 DAYS.

A BRAND NEW YEAR

Missed 2 countdowns, so this year decided to head for the beach party at Sentosa. Not as many people as expected, but the foam party was a blast as usual. My eyes were stung horribly by all the foam and I was drenched from head to toe with soap and dirt. Back home at 7am. Wonderful. Thanks guys for the night out.
