So spent the entire week in Singapore, a whole stretch of TWELVE days off work (combination of rostered off + standbys that weren't activated) and it's only day number 8 so I'm really enjoying my mini break! Although I'll probably won't be rejoicing when my pay check comes in next month :x

Did another event for Zouk, this time it's a collaboration between Feiyue and the club to launch a limited edition sneakers bearing Zouk's 20/20 anniversary watermark!

You guys probably know that I'm hugely obsessed with shoes so to add this to my collection is just so amazing! To be honest I don't have many white sneakers as I prefer gaudy and colourful stuff but this one is simple yet elegant, and also it's high cut so something different for me this time!

Didn't think the food was anything to rave about, really. Slightly overpriced and their efforts to make all their dishes healthy means a salt-free and MSG-free meal, which also makes everything a tad too bland for my liking.

Will have a go at their desserts next time though!

Standard-fare Botak Jones that you will get at any of the outlets. This one at Dempsey has no special feel and in fact my experience was marred by really bad customer service. We opted for a table facing the open air but the staff advised that it was already reserved, though there was no mention of any reservations sign. In addition, the restaurant was barely even half full so I don't see why that was an issue. Next, when the waitress came to take our orders, she just stood by the table and waited; not even a mere hello or an introduction whatsoever. I never do that to my passengers on board, no matter how frustrating it is when some of them take light years to decide between chicken and beef, so I don't see why I should receive such service and what more, in a place like Dempsey.

The fried jalapenos are wicked! That's probably the only saving grace. So wicked that I had a bad throat the following day so proceed with caution on this one!

Off to Manila from 21-23 Nov, another first for me so I can't wait!

There's been a huge debate about foreigners in Singapore recently and all that talk about giving priorities to our locals and such so let's get straight into it.

I don't study in a local uni so I can't say I feel your sentiments when people keep bashing the Ah Tiongs (how did they get that name anyway?) and their habits. In terms of university places, there probably aren't many universities around the world that only have intakes for their citizens. (The prominent unis, of course) So I don't see any issue with the ATs competing for places with our undergraduates. If you've got the brains to make it through, competition exists in the society either way. Obviously there's always a limit and different individuals have different ideas about going overboard with foreign talent but it's not like there's 90% of them in one single course anyway.

In terms of living with the ATs in the dorms and campuses, well it's the same scenarios overseas, particularly in Australia. I don't think the Aussies like it when we take over the territory and Australia itself is mini-Asia. We have varying habits and we can never please each other. It's all about accomodating to each others' culture.

We don't like it when we co-habit with foreigners and I'm no exception. I head to Zouk almost every week, and trust me, there hasn't been a single night when the ang mohs and the locals don't battle it out. Most of the time, it's the same conclusion. The locals will call on the bouncers, and if you think that the bouncer won't be on my side then you're daft. The ang mohs get a red card and we cheers to our Heineken yeah!

In Australia, the reverse happens all the time. Racism is still very strife, even if they don't want to admit. Try queuing at the supermarket behind an Aussie and compare the treatment. There are many occasions when the staff don't even offer to take the stuff out of my basket or offer me any plastic bags. It's the same at Red Rooster or Hungry Jacks. I don't know what's with Aussies and plastic bags. They've been brainwashed to think that we yellow-skinned pricks are hidden octopuses with 8 arms to carry things without a bag.

Being a flight attendant, I meet people from all over the world and the one of the most common questions that I get is which type of passengers are the worst travellers on board. Hands down, it's the Caucasians. Singaporeans - yes they have a kiasu mentality and their biggest problems revolve around just standing up before the seat belt sign is extinguished and carrying hand luggages weighing a ton - but that's just the tip. Nothing that can't be resolved with just a few reminder PAs and offloading their bags before they even step on board. Caucasians are equally problematic and they don't show you any respect. Even as a Customer Service Manager, they talk down and belittle me, at times hurling vulgarities, and expect me to be soft and keep to their demands. Just yesterday, one of them got into another senseless argument with me and shouted 'What kind of a CSM are you?' in front of everyone. No basic manners, totally uncouth behaviour - and you expect me to solve your problems. Well you can take your damn problems are shove it up your.... Okay let's be cool here haha.

Bottom line is - MUTUAL UNDERSTANDING. All thanks to Darwin or Adam and Eve or whoever/whatever, we've all been brought up from different cultures, so it's impossible to please everyone. So I always believe in these two aspects; firstly, being polite. Please and Thank You is basic courtesy, and if everyone strives by these phrases, I'd say half the battle is already won. Secondly, mutual respect. We don't lash out on other people's cultural behaviour and we do not laugh about it.

And on a very final note, LAO PEI here will be starting Beijing flights end of the month. Any PRC who try to steal toilet paper, eat gua zi and litter my plane or talk loudly with their megaphone voice......

Just back from a really long 9-days pattern for me. Once again embarking on a sushi fest in the land of the rising sun but all thanks to a brilliant move by Qantas to ground its entire fleet, I was working like a dog throughout all the full flights so I'm really happy to be home. Don't see any logic behind an airline cancelling all its flight; always results in a lose-lose situation where consumer confidence dips and the company doesn't resolve its own niggling issues either way. Don't know where CEOs get their brains from. Sometimes even a toddler can run the company; all you need is common sense, which is highly non-existent in the society today.

I will marry any girl that can cook me the perfect ramen every single day of my life whenever I want it. This is the real shit! Not the dodgy AJISEN RAMEN in Singapore where the whole soup is just MSG and the whole place is ridiculously overpriced!
