Hong Kong Cafe any day...

Teh Ping and pork chop noodles

Alvin And The Chipmunks after that. Plain ridiculous! Just totally sick of all these animal-related movies. No meaning at all.

Watching Hairspray now and it's aboslutely fabulous! There's so much singing and dancing, Zac Efron should just quit High School Musical for Hairspray! John Travlota looks retarded as a woman though. Totally love it, with all 60s-inspired songs. Off to get the soundtrack!

6 months to freedom as of Tuesday! 18 June is my release date and back into civilian world. And what better way to mark this than a visit to The Army Museuem Of Singapore! Free entry till end of the year, but well unless you're a military personnel, you'd probably won't grasp much of what's inside. Christmas lunch with the unit after that.

The Golden Compass

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

For all the hype surrounding the movie, I have to admit I was rather impressed with this show. I was constantly trying to stay awake watching this at midnight just to see what happens in the next scene and it was well worth it. Of course, with the accusations regarding the promoting of aethism in the show, it's best to watch this with an open mind.

Nicole Kidman, as usual, had a stellar performance, as with Daniel Craig who didn't have much cameo time. Can't wait for the final 2 installments.

That said, I have to say I rather perturbed by the abnormal amount of animals in the show that were following the humans around. What's with Hollywood and their freak obsession with animals? We've had a thousand shows about the life of penguins, then we had the ridiculous Evan Almighty and his ark-building animal followers, and recently we saw how all sorts of insects and animals singing in Enchanted. I'm so thankful life isn't like this on Planet Earth. Can't imagine having an animal as a soul following me around. I'll probably pick an ant, so small and insignificant for anyone to realise. James opted for a horse. Yuck. Jules opted for a walrus, according to her blog, and one of her friends opted for a bowl of curry so she could eat her deamon whenever she's hungry. Right.

But then again, if everyone had animals following them around every day, I'd rather stay in my room all day, for life.

Christmas go orchard!

Thursday, December 13, 2007

Yesterday I was at St James Power Station with Nicole, she had booked a private room to do some filming and photography. Our dear Sylvester Sim walked past! Haha. Why do I always bump into him? It's definitely not the first time. And he doesn't look good at all. Wonder if there were hordes of screaming girls at his shows now? Man this Singapore Idol thing has really just dug its own grave.

I experienced first hand what photography was all about - the lighting, the mood, the setting, the outfits, and equipment, the laptop.. which was way beyond my league. But she commented that it's really an experience that money couldn't buy and I totally concurred. But this is definitely not something which really gives me a lot of interest, still learning the ropes of it and at least I scrapped through my photography assignment.

Oh well, maybe it's time to invest in a proper camera, but the convenience of just whipping out your mobile phone from your pocket and snapping away it just too hard to resist.

Taxi fare hikes by Comfort Delgro!

-I can't believe the meter is going to jump by 20 cents now!
-Peak hour surcharge 35% of the metered fare and not $2!

Please, all you other cab operators, ply around the east area more often! I'm going to boycott Comfort!

The erratic weather is just driving me insane. I can't go swimming and I haven't swam in ages. Soccer in the rain for 2 consecutive sessions. And I don't even feel like going out so I sleep way too much. But good thing is, my office aircon is still down so this will make things a little cooler there.

Time for bed!

I hate to whine about this again but I have to say I can never understand the complex anatomy of animals, and dogs in particular.

After a long day, I was trying to get an early night but my neighbour's dog just wouldn't let me, with his/her/its persistent barking. It's 10pm, and there's definitely no thief in the night, so not a good excuse to bark even though that's what dogs do. I headed outside and gave him a good lashing, asking him to shut his dog up or I will.

He was just as puzzled, why his dog was barking at absolutely nothing at all. What we saw next shocked us to bits. There was a small kitten that managed to sneak through somehow and caught the dog's attention. After which, when the owner failed to calm the dog down, the vicious beast proceeded to sink its teeth into the poor and helpless kitten, chumping on its neck and sending the feline to its grave admist a weak squeal and a blood bath.

My maid watched in horror at the sight and cringed uncontrollably.

For me, I can sleep peacefully now.

But some food for though - what would The Cat Society Of Singapore think of this? Would the dog be spared because, erm, it's a dog or would it be charged with cruelty to animals and put down?

Either way, it doesn't bother me, I had a good night's sleep and this goes into #87 of Jermaine's Top 100 Reasons why animals are stupid.

Standard Chartered Marathon - 10km

The run was harder than expected, really. Flagged off at 0715 which was considered pretty late and finished 1hr 45 mins later, dead beat and exhausted. My legs just felt like jelly and I collapsed like a stack of cards upon reaching my booth. The most I've ever ran was back in volleyball days where we used to train at Bedok Reservoir and that was less than half the distance of today's run. So this was especially excruciating and I was completely knocked out cold by the time I reached home.

I must have drank like a hundred cups of 100 plus along the way. And yes the amazing thing was the full marathon (42km) winner clocked in at 2hr 15mins. Like do they even run or fly?

Bed time now.
